Ceredigion Association of National Trust Members

The National Trust’s Associations have existed for more than 50 years to support the work of the National Trust and to make membership of the charity more enjoyable. There are now over 196 such groups in Wales, England and Northern Ireland, and in Belgium and Germany.

Ceredigion Association was founded in 1991 and has since then raised over £40,000 which has been donated to Llanerchaeron and to other National Trust countryside and coastline projects in Ceredigion.

We have an interesting programme of talks, outings and other events and new members are always welcome.

Ceredigion

Ceredigion is a rural idyll with areas where time has almost stood still. It stretches from the Dyfi Estuary in the north to the Teifi Estuary in the south with its west side bordered by a beautiful coastline forming part of Cardigan Bay.

Llanerchaeron

Llanerchaeron is the only building in Ceredigion owned by the National Trust and is one of the few houses remaining in Wales designed by the famous architect John Nash. This elegant and classical building typical of his style is a marvel to behold.

More than just another period house, Llanerchaeron -

  • Has been lovingly restored for the future.
  • It is a perfect example of a small landed estate with much still intact.
  • The home, farm and its buildings show how a wealthy landowner and his servants would have lived a self-sufficient lifestyle over the last few centuries
  • Some highlights include the dairy, brewery, laundry, stables and billiards room.
  • There is a beautiful walled garden to explore.
  • woodland walks and the farm animals are guaranteed to raise a smile.

The National Trust in Ceredigion

Vast areas of the coast including parts of the Ceredigion Coastal Path are owned by the National Trust. Who cannot but be impressed by the rugged beauty of Ynys Lochtyn, the golden sands of Penbryn – featured in a James Bond film – or the beauty of Mwnt with its secluded bay and delightful Mediaeval church complete with a ‘leper’s window.’

This area of Ceredigion is often teeming with wildlife, from here it is possible to see dolphins, seals and porpoises in the clear waters of Cardigan Bay or watch the sea birds, especially the acrobatic aerial displays of the choughs.
